Franchy Cordero Day-to-Day With Groin Tightness
7 years agoAccording to MLB.com beat writer AJ Cassavell, San Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero is listed as day-to-day as he deals with tightness in his groin muscle. San Diego's No. 12 prospect, according to MLB.com, Cordero was hitting .343 with two home runs and a 1.179 OPS over 16 games this spring as he battled for a spot on the Padres bench. Cordero has been competing with Hunter Renfroe, Travis Jankowski and Matt Szczur for a roster spot, and with this injury the Padres could decide to send him to the minors to start the year in order to keep the clock from starting on his free agency. When he does stick with the Padres, though, Cordero will have 15-homer, 20-steal potential, making him an interesting late-round flyer in deeper leagues.
