Flyers Making Progress On Extension For Nick Seeler
1 year agoThe Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly making progress on a contract extension for defenseman Nick Seeler. The 30-year-old is currently scheduled to hit unrestricted free-agent status at the end of the season but it appears the Flyers could very well lock him up. The defense-first blueliner has recorded just one goal and 12 points on the season but he also has 112 hits and 78 penalty minutes on his ledger. Additionally, his 184 blocks rank first in the NHL and he is a plus-15 on the season. A valued penalty killer, Seeler is a veteran of 288 games in six NHL seasons with the Wild, Blackhawks, and Flyers. He currently carries a $775K cap hit.

Nick Seeler Unavailable Friday
6 months agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler (knee) won't play in Friday's season opener against Vancouver. He has failed to recover from a knee injury that Seeler sustained in a preseason game. The Flyers have played him on Injured Reserve retroactively to Oct. 1. Emil Andrae and Erik Johnson are options to replace Seeler in the lineup on Friday. Neither player is a particularly attractive fantasy option, although Andrea has done well offensively in the minors. He registered 32 points (five goals, 27 assists) in 61 AHL appearances last season. However, the 22-year-old has gone scoreless in his prior four NHL outings.

Nick Seeler Returning On Saturday
1 year agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler (lower body) will be back in the lineup when his team takes on the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. The blue-liner has missed the past 11 games with a lower-body injury after blocking a shot off his ankle in a contest against the St. Louis Blues on March 4. At the time of his injury, Seeler was leading the NHL with 184 blocked shots. He now sits fourth. "I just think getting back to my game as quickly as I can is probably the best thing for me, and that includes blocking shots," Seeler said. "But just playing simple and playing my game and hopefully can get back to that tonight." The defensive-minded Seeler has one goal and 12 points while adding 112 hits in 63 games this season.
