Five Rays Pitchers Combine For Seven-Inning No-Hitter
3 years agoFive Tampa Bay Rays pitchers combined to throw a seven-inning no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader. Because it was only a seven-inning game, it won't officially count as a no-hitter in the history books. Collin McHugh, Josh Fleming, Diego Castillo, Matt Wisler and Pete Fairbanks combined to strike out eight while walking two. Fleming, who was activated from the injured list to serve as the bulk pitcher in this one, got the win by striking out two and walking one in 2 2/3 scoreless innings following McHugh as the opener. McHugh struck out three in two spotless innings to open the contest. Fleming is the one to watch in fantasy, but he'll need to go longer as a bulk pitcher to provide any fantasy value for those in deeper leagues.
