San Jose Sharks right wing Filip Zadina exited Friday's 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal with an upper-body injury. According to Sharks head coach David Quinn, it's been a nagging issue for the Czech winger. Zadina has featured in all 20 games so far but could now be out for Saturday's clash with Vancouver. The 23-year-old has scored three goals and boasts two assists from the season. San Jose's top goal-scorer, Mike Hoffman, is a strong candidate to replace Zadina on the first line on Saturday.

San Jose Sharks right wing Filip Zadina was hurt in Wednesday's preseason encounter with the Ducks and was forced to leave the game in the third period. This was a tough night all around for the Czech winger, as he finished the contest with a minus-two rating and had very little impact on the ice, producing only one shot on goal in 17:32 of action. According to reports, Zadina escaped serious injury, which is great news for the 23-year-old, who is looking to kickstart his career in San Jose after agreeing to terminate his contract with the Red Wings this offseason. San Jose also lost defenseman Radim Simek (lower body) to injury in Wednesday's game.

San Jose Sharks right wing Filip Zadina is confident he can ignite his NHL career following his offseason move from Detroit. "I've just got to stay healthy," Zadina said at the NHL European Player Media Tour. "Once I stay healthy the whole season, for the future, it will come. I believe I'm a good player. I'm strong and fast. I can shoot the puck. I can pass the puck. I have the tools that I needed to have, and it's just about staying healthy and play hockey and have fun." Zadina was a top-six pick by the Red Wings at the 2018 NHL Draft, but he never really got going in Motown. The 23-year-old had 28 goals and 68 points in 190 games with the Red Wings before he agreed to terminate his contract with the team this summer.

The Detroit Red Wings have waived winger Filip Zadina, who has endured a rough start to his NHL career. The 6th pick of the 2018 draft boasts only 28 goals and 68 points through 190 career games. Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman noted on Monday that the 23-year-old asked for a trade through his agent, but the team was unable to find a suitable deal. The Czech winger signed a three-year, $5.475 million contract extension just last summer, and he currently isn't a very attractive piece for any team after having a horrible season with only seven points in 30 games.
