Filip Gustavsson Sharp In Victory Over Toronto
2 months agoMinnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced en route to defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday evening. The Wild were heavily outshot in this contest, especially in the third period (5-14), but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. His lone blemish came in the final frame when William Nylander found the back of the net on a wrist shot for his 29th goal of the season. This impressive outing extended Gustavsson's winning streak to two games. Prior to this winning streak, Gustavsson was in a rough five-game skid as he held a 0-4 record with a 5.27 GAA and a .844% SV. The 26-year-old looks to be turning the corner and will likely continue to see the majority of starts in the crease. Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to get the nod on the second half of back-to-back on Thursday evening, with Gustavsson slated to start on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.
