Fernando Tatis Jr. Taking On-Field Batting Practice Tuesday
2 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (wrist) is taking batting practice on the field prior to the team's matchup against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. This is his first full on-field batting practice session. His previous session in New York over this past weekend was soft-toss. According to Padres beat writer Kevin Acee, Tatis is on track to face live pitching over the next week or so. If he can avoid any setbacks, he will go out on a rehab assignment after that. We're inching closer to the 2022 debut for the 23-year-old phenom. A mid-August return to the majors is certainly in play at this point if Tatis can remain on track.
