Fernando Tatis Jr. Expected To Miss Rest Of Season
6 years agoSan Diego Padres top prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. (thumb) is expected to need surgery and miss the rest of the season after fracturing his left thumb while attempting a stolen base on Thursday at Double-A San Antonio. The good news is the Padres don't expect the injury to affect him past this year. There remains hope that an MRI can be performed after the swelling goes down and Tatis can avoid surgery. Tatis is expected to need six to eight weeks of recovery time. The 19-year-old had 16 homers and 16 steals this year and was expected to get a shot in the bigs in the second half. He'll have to wait until 2019 now, but he's still one to stash in all keeper leagues.
