Felix Bautista Records His Second Save On Thursday
3 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista closed out the team's 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. He pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of the game, allowing one hit, no walks and no runs. He has now earned two saves over the last three days - the first two saves of his major league career. The 26-year-old has allowed just three earned runs over 14 innings this year (1.93 ERA). Both of his save opportunities have come with the team's primary closer Jorge Lopez on the bereavement list. Lopez should be back any day now. He's done a fine job in the closer role, converting 4-of-5 save chances with a 1.13 ERA, so we'd expect him to regain his status as the team's primary closer once he's back. However, Bautista is certainly on our radar now.
