Felix Bautista Hopes To Be Ready For Opening Day
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista (knee, shoulder) is feeling good and hopes to be ready for Opening Day. He has thrown four bullpen sessions in spring training and went at 70 percent effort on Friday. Bautista thinks he can start getting into spring games on March 15 or 16. Since he's a reliever, he will only need around four to five innings of work to be ready for the regular season. The Orioles will be without Dillon Tate for the first month of the season, so the Orioles can't really afford Bautista to be on the injured list to start things off as well. The 27-year-old had a breakout year in 2022 and will be the team's closer again in 2023 as long as he's healthy. If Bautista isn't ready on Opening Day, Cionel Perez and Bryan Baker will have opportunities to close out games for the O's.
