Fantasy Managers Should Not Overlook Ty Gibbs At Daytona
3 days agoTy Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing obtained a starting position of 23rd for this year's Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. Gibbs received the starting position after starting 13th and finishing 11th at the end of the first Daytona Duel race. In five prior Cup races at Daytona, Gibbs has three finishes with positive Place Differential and one top-5 finish, which he collected in his last start at the site in August 2024. In first practice, Gibbs ranked third in single lap times and had the best 10 consecutive lap average, while ranking 21st in single lap times in second practice. Gibbs also participated in final practice, where he ranked 13th in single lap times, eighth in 10 consecutive lap averages, and sixth in overall lap averages. With his salary ranking around the lower part of the middle of the pack for DFS ($7,400 on DraftKings), Gibbs is a capable fit into any DFS lineup. The No. 54 Toyota driver is especially worth consideration for tournament lineups, as he is expected to carry below-average rostership due to his mixed finish history at Daytona.
