Falcons Release Matt Bryant
6 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons released kicker Matt Bryant on Wednesday. The soon-to-be 44-year-old had two years left on his deal and made it clear on Twitter that he didn't plan to retire ahead of the 2019 season. Despite missing three games with a hamstring injury, Bryant was very effective otherwise, making 20 of his 21 field goals and 33 of his 35 extra-point tries in 2018. There's a chance Bryant latches on with another team, but it's unlikely he'll be in a better fantasy spot than he was kicking indoors in Atlanta in a potent offense. It's safe to assume that Giorgio Tavecchio, who filled in for Bryant when he was injured last year, will be Atlanta's new full-time kicker. He made all five of his field goals and all eight of his extra points in three games last year. He'll have plenty of upside in a great offense.
