Falcons Considered Trading Devonta Freeman
5 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons discussed running back Devonta Freeman with the Detroit Lions before the trade deadline this past week. The Lions inquired about Freeman and the sides talked at length, but ultimately Atlanta decided they didn't want to trade him. It's been a tough year for Freeman and the Falcons, and negative game script hasn't helped his cause with the Falcons constantly playing from behind by multiple scores this year. Freeman hasn't gone over 88 yards rushing and is averaging a pedestrian 3.4 yards per carry on 97 rushing attempts. He's also yet to score a touchdown on the ground, although he does have three receiving scores, which has been his saving grace for fantasy owners. Atlanta is on their bye in Week 9 before matchups with the Saints, Panthers and Buccaneers. Freeman has become more of a low-end RB2 in 2019.
