30 seconds agoColorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar (hip) is back at shortstop and is hitting third in the batting order for Friday's series opener against the division-rival San Diego Padres and right-hander Nick Pivetta at Petco Park. A minor hip injury kept Tovar out of Thursday's series finale in Colorado against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he'll return for the start of a weekend series in America's finest city. The 23-year-old will be hoping to keep up his strong start in 2025, as he'll enter Friday's contest with a .277/.306/.404 slash line, four doubles, one triple, four RBI, two stolen bases, four runs scored, two walks and 10 strikeouts in 11 games played. He has only faced Pivetta four times in his career, but he's homered against him and has driven in two runs.
