Ezekiel Elliott Offered Contract Close To Gurley Range
5 years agoDallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has received a contract-extension offer from the team that would have him approaching Todd Gurley's average pay per year ($14 million) but would have significantly reduced guarantees. While Cowboys leadership has publicly stated that they are closing in on a deal with their star running back, the greatest issue still remains that the team is unwilling to offer guarantees that, if matching Gurley, would reach $45 million in total. Fantasy owners should expect Elliott to reject the latest offer, as he has continually stated that without these assurances, there will not be any agreement. With the season rapidly closing in and the running back continuing to hold out, indications from the Cowboys coaching staff have been that if Elliott misses any games, rookie Tony Pollard will likely receive the bulk of the rushing work. In an offense ripe with opportunity and behind a strong offensive line, Pollard could very well be this year's James Conner.
