Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov scored two even-strength goals during Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Arizona Coyotes. Kuznetsov has produced eight goals, 10 assists, and five power-play points through 16 games this season. The slick Russian pivot is a top-tier offensive producer and a must-start option each time he takes the ice. T.J. Oshie also scored his ninth goal of the season in the contest. The Capitals are back in action on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller

Carolina Hurricanes center Evgeny Kuznetsov will be back in the lineup for Game 3 against the Rangers on Thursday. He was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's Game 2. Kuznetsov has posted four points (two goals, two assists) in six playoff appearances this year, but he's done all his scoring across two games. He comes in for Max Comtois on the fourth line. The winger logged only 6:19 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss, finishing with a minus-one rating.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Carolina Hurricanes center Evgeny Kuznetsov picked up two points in a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders in Game 5 of their first-round series. Kuznetsov scored on a penalty shot late in the first to give the Canes a 3-1 lead and then assisted on Stefan Noesen's third-period marker that made the game 5-3 and out of reach for the Islanders. Kuznetsov played most of the series on the team's fourth line, but that isn't much of an insult on a team as deep as the Hurricanes. He was able to post four points in five games even with limited ice time and was a key part of a solid bottom six. --Matt Garon - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov has been assigned to the AHL after he cleared waivers on Sunday. Washington announced that the team is waiving Kuznetsov on Saturday after he was cleared to resume practicing by administrators for the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. Kuznetsov, a two-time All-Star and the Capitals' leading scorer on their triumphant 2018 Stanley Cup run, entered the program on Feb. 6. Washington decided to cut ties with Kuznetsov after he contributed only 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 43 games this season. The Russian centerman, who has registered 171 goals and 568 points in 723 career regular-season appearances in the AHL, has one more season to on an eight-year, $62,400,000 contract.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov did not partake in Monday's practice due to what the team is calling personal reasons. "We'll have an update later but out today for personal reasons," Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said. It's been a down season for the veteran pivot as Kuznetsov has recorded just six goals and 17 points across 43 games while posting a minus-11 rating in that time. His 18:47 of average ice time per game is actually an increase from last season and is the third-highest mark of his 11-year NHL career. The Caps have largely struggled as a team as they are tied for sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with a 22-18-7 record while their -31 goal differential is the third-worst figure in the Eastern Conference.--Brenton Kemp
