Evgeni Malkin Powers Pittsburgh To Victory
1 month agoPittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin tallied four points during their overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday evening. In the second period, Malkin tallied two helpers, the primary assist on Philip Tomasino's strike and the secondary assist on Erik Karlsson's goal. In the third period, Malkin found the back of the net on a snap shot to tie the game and force overtime. Then in overtime, Malkin scored his second goal of the evening to seal the victory. Since returning from a lower-body injury on February 22, Malkin has found the back of net three times and added four helpers. During this stretch, the 38-year-old has tallied six shots on goal and held a +2 rating. Even though Malkin has not been as consistent this season, he continues to see top six minutes in the Pittsburgh offense. He will look to stay hot on Saturday afternoon against the Boston Bruins.

Evgeni Malkin Considered Day-To-Day
3 days agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (upper body) wore a non-contact jersey in Wednesday's practice and is considered day-to-day. The veteran star missed Tuesday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning due to an upper-body injury. It seems that Malkin may miss additional time because of the injury, but he isn't expected to be sidelined for long. Kevin Hayes took over as the second-line center on Tuesday. He also filled in for Malkin on the top power-play unit but had no offensive stats as the Penguins took a heavy 6-1 loss. For the season, Hayes has totaled 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 56 appearances.

Evgeni Malkin On Track To Return Saturday
1 month agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (lower body) is ready to rejoin the lineup on Saturday against the Washington Capitals. He has been out for six games due to a lower-body injury but returned to practice recently. Malkin will likely jump on the second line. The Russian veteran has had a disappointing season, amassing 34 points (nine goals, 25 assists) in 47 outings. He has managed only one goal and two assists over his past nine outings. Pittsburgh is struggling, and it appears unlikely that Malkin will improve his scoring pace over the final couple of months of the season.

Evgeni Malkin Labeled As Week-To-Week
2 months agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (lower body) has been labeled as week-to-week. The veteran star left Saturday's contest against the Seattle Kraken with a lower-body injury and seems set for another stint on the sidelines. Earlier in January, Malkin sat out four games due to an upper-body injury. Gody Glass will take over the second-line center spot from Malkin in Monday's matchup against the San Jose Sharks, with Anthony Beauvillier moving up from the third line to skate on the right wing. Glass went scoreless as a center when Malkin missed time earlier this month.

Evgeni Malkin Sustains A Lower-Body Injury Saturday
2 months agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (lower body) will not return to Saturday's contest against the Seattle Kraken. Malkin exited the action in the first period following a collision with Seattle forward Chandler Stephenson, and the team has announced that the Russian star will miss the rest of the game due to a lower-body injury. This is another setback for the Penguins in a season full of frustration. Fantasy managers should consider Malkin day-to-day for now. Pittsburgh's next game is set for Monday in San Jose. Cody Glass previously filled in as the second-line center earlier this month, while Kevin Hayes might also assume the role if Malkin is unable to play on Monday.
