Evan Carter Sitting On Monday
1 year agoTexas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Patrick Sandoval. The rookie slugged a sixth-inning two-run homer in Sunday's crucial 9-8 win over the rival Seattle Mariners but will give way to veteran Robbie Grossman in left field on Monday. Carter has been as advertised, and then some, since making his big-league debut on Sept. 8 as he's hitting .318 with four home runs, three stolen bases, 13 runs, 10 RBI, and a 1.131 OPS across his first 54 MLB plate appearances. His .400 BABIP suggests regression is inevitable at some point but he has been a key bat for the Rangers, slugging three homers and a pair of doubles over his last four games as the Rangers scratch and claw for a Wild Card berth down the stretch.
