Eury Perez Throws Bullpen On Friday
16 seconds agoMiami Marlins right-hander Eury Perez (elbow) threw a bullpen session before the team's game against the division-rival Atlanta Braves at Truist Park on Friday, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. Back in Miami, pitchers Declan Cronin (hip) and Jesus Tinoco (back) also threw bullpens. Perez is working his way back from Tommy John surgery in April of last year. While it's good news that he's ramping up his arm, the 21-year-old isn't expected to be an option to make his 2025 season debut until around the All-Star break in the middle of July. The Dominican pitcher had all the makings of a future fantasy ace in his rookie season in 2023 when he went 5-6 with a 3.15 ERA (4.11 FIP) and 1.13 WHIP with 108 strikeouts and 31 walks in his first 19 starts over 91 1/3 innings pitched. There's a lot to like with the young hurler's profile, but fantasy managers need to remember that he's only 21 years old and might not be as sharp in the second half in 2025. He'll be a much better fantasy investment in single-year leagues in 2026.
