18 seconds agoThe Miami Marlins placed right-hander Eury Perez (elbow) on the 60-day injured list on Thursday and also claimed right-hander Seth Martinez off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a corresponding move. The move to send Perez to the 60-day IL opens a 40-man roster spot for Martinez. The 21-year-old Perez is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He has been throwing off a mound in camp, but the Marlins aren't going to rush him back. Perez will be eligible to come off the IL in late May, but the expectation is that he will miss at least half of the 2025 season. Martinez, 30, was recently cut by the Arizona Diamondbacks and will now latch on with the Fish after posting a 3.59 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 36 strikeouts and 18 walks in 52 2/3 innings with the Houston Astros in 2024. Even if he wins a bullpen spot with Miami out of spring training, he can be avoided in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
