Erik Swanson Blows Save, Takes Loss Sunday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Erik Swanson was given the save opportunity against the Texas Rangers Sunday, and it did not go well. He gave up three runs on three hits without recording an out, leaving him with his first blown save and first loss on the season. Swanson was in this position because both Diego Castillo and Paul Sewald had pitched on back-to-back days, and he isn't expected to receive more save opportunities. Swanson has been quite effective this year with a 1.86 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 19 1/3 innings, but he doesn't belong on fantasy rosters.
