Erik Karlsson Reportedly Offered Extension From Senators
6 years agoThe Ottawa Senators have stayed true to their word and have offered defenseman Erik Karlsson a contract extension. Karlsson is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season, completing his current seven-year deal. Karlsson has been a topic of much conversation of late, being a focal point of trade rumors, and it was even announced that the Senators have allowed interested teams to contact Karlsson directly to talk shop. Karlsson has spent his entire nine-year career with Ottawa and has been a force in that time. In 627 NHL games, he has amassed 518 points, is a two-time Norris Trophy winner and has been captain of the Senators since 2014. He’s an elite offensive defenseman in the NHL and should be a prime target in fantasy redraft leagues. The only sore spot in his stat line is the plus-minus of minus-25 last season, but his offensive production is worth the hit.
