Erik Jones Will Start From P22 In Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300
6 months agoAfter finishing with the second-slowest time during Saturday's practice (33.344), Erik Jones showed slight improvement by qualifying 22nd for Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway. Saturday's performances come as no surprise as 2024 has been a challenging season for the nine-year Cup veteran, who currently sits 26th in the NASCAR playoff standings. Although a concussion that caused him to miss time certainly played a role in this, the struggles go well beyond missing two races. With just one top-10 finish this season, and just seven total last year, Jones has not been the same since his team rebranded to Legacy Motor Club in 2023. While these struggles do not make him a complete fade, as he is averaging 45 points in his two starts at this track, he is a driver you will want to have limited exposure to (max 10% of lineup builds) until he can rediscover the form he showed us back in 2022.
