1 year agoErik Jones suffered a good deal as Legacy Motor Club prepared to switch to Toyota from Chevrolet. Despite this, he vastly outperformed all his teammates including Noah Gragson, Carson Hocevar, and John Hunter Nemechek. All those drivers either announced or likely will have full-time NASCAR Cup rides next season. Additionally, he had a streak of six finishes of eleventh or better on non-drafting superspeedways in the summer stretch. That culminated in a third place finish at Kansas and a Texas race where he ranked third in speed despite a DNF. His seventh place starting position at Phoenix matches the best of his career.
