Erik Jones Hopeful To Continue Hot Streak and ‘Put It All Together’ at Richmond
1 year agoErik Jones is currently on quite a hot streak in NASCAR Cup Series action. In addition to his 9th-place finish at Pocono last weekend, Jones currently has finished inside the top-11 in four of the last five races and hasn't had a result worse than 16th-place over that span. Will he be able to continue that at Richmond this weekend, though? Jones started in 22nd-place in the first Richmond race this season and ended up with a disappointing 31st-place result when it was all said and done. Richmond also hasn't been a very good track for Jones throughout his career, as he has just one top-10 finish in 12 career starts here and an average result of 22.6. Earlier this week, Jones stated, "We have had some solid speed [at Richmond] at times in the NextGen cars, we just haven't been able to put it together. I am hoping this is the one where we can do that and put it all together." Jones qualified in 27th-place for Sunday's Cook Out 400 and was 7th-fastest in 10-lap average during practice on Saturday.
