6 years agoThe Cleveland Indians optioned shortstop Eric Stamets to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday and called up infielder Mike Freeman from Columbus in a corresponding move. Stamets hit just .049 (2-for-48) with two RBI, 24 strikeouts and five walks in 15 games while filling in for Francisco Lindor (calf). Freeman can handle the bat a bit more, but Lindor could return to make his season debut later this week, so Freeman might not be in Cleveland for long. Freeman hit .208 (5-for-24) with three home runs and three RBI on the farm to begin the year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
