Eric Lauer Mows Down Dodgers
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Eric Lauer was marvelous in Tuesday's victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers, spinning 8 2/3 innings of one-run ball. An out away from a complete game shutout, Lauer surrendered a solo shot to Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy and was pulled after 115 pitches. The 23-year-old rookie was outstanding, serving up four hits and two walks while fanning eight. After a brutal 8.27 ERA through his first four major league starts, Lauer's made immense progress. Since June 2, he's allowed three earned runs or less in eight consecutive outings with a 2.33 ERA and 1.36 WHIP during that span. Virtually unowned in fantasy leagues, Lauer is becoming an enticing weekly streamer. He'll face off against the Chicago Cubs at home on Sunday.
