Eric Lauer Crushed In Major League Debut
7 years agoMaking his major league debut, San Diego Padres rookie starter Eric Lauer was hammered for seven runs (six earned) in Tuesday's loss to the Colorado Rockies. Lauer was a victim of spotty defense in the first inning that allowed his first two runs. The wheels then came off in a five-run second inning highlighted by a Trevor Story grand slam. Lauer ultimately completed three innings pitched, surrendering six hits and four walks. He struck out three batters. Including Lauer, seven visiting starters have made their unfortunate debuts at Coors Field to the tune of an 8.69 ERA. The matchup was a tough draw for the Padres No. 12 prospect but he should get another shot to make an impression. His next scheduled start will come next week while visiting the San Francisco Giants.
