Eric Lauer Activated Prior To Sunday's Game
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers pitcher Eric Lauer was activated from the COVID-19 related injured list before Sunday's 9-1 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field, and he immediately made an impact after a short start by Freddy Peralta. Entering during a 5-0 ballgame with one out in the fourth, Lauer escaped a bases-loaded jam by striking out Kyle Schwarber. He would go on to pitch 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning six batters. Lauer was part of the trade that sent Zach Davies and Trent Grisham to the Padres. The southpaw was 8-10 with a 4.45 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 138 strikeouts over 149 2/3 innings in 2019, and he's moving to a more hitter-friendly ballpark. The poor start by Peralta as well as the strong showing by Lauer certainly bodes well for Lauer's chances of seeing some time in the starting rotation.
