Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Eric Ebron (hamstring) was listed as limited on the team's estimated practice report on Wednesday after they only held a walkthrough. Ebron has missed the last two games, but head coach Mike Tomlin said Ebron had a "good week last week." It sounds like the Steelers expect Ebron to return in Week 10 against the winless Detroit Lions, but the 28-year-old isn't a realistic fantasy option due to the emergence of rookie Pat Freiermuth, who has caught nine of his 13 targets for 87 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games with Ebron sidelined. Ebron doesn't have more than two receptions in a single game this year and has seven receptions for 47 yards in six games in 2021. Continue ignoring him in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The New York Giants worked out a group that included free-agent tight end Eric Ebron on Monday. The Giants lost both Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph this offseason, and promising rookie Daniel Bellinger (quadriceps) has begun training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, so New York could certainly use another body in the tight end room this summer. If the season were to start on Monday, veteran Ricky Seals-Jones would be the team's No. 1 option at the position, followed by Jordan Akins and Chris Myarick. Ebron, 29, played in only eight games in his second year with the Pittsburgh Steelers due to injury and finished with 12 catches on 18 targets for 84 yards and one touchdown.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent tight end Eric Ebron (knee) said on his Twitter account on Wednesday that he's been medically cleared by his doctor. Ebron landed on Injured Reserve after getting injured in Week 11 and underwent season-ending surgery. The 28-year-old ended up playing in only eight games in his first year in Pittsburgh, and even before his knee injury, rookie Pat Freiermuth was outperforming him at the tight end position. Ebron finished with a career-low 12 receptions on 18 targets for 84 yards and one touchdown in 2021. Freiermuth has a bright future in Pittsburgh, so it's likely that Ebron will be one and done with the Steelers. His 2022 fantasy value will depend on where he lands, but Ebron will probably be no better than a low-end TE1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Eric Ebron (knee) was placed on injured reserve on Saturday. This is hardly a surprise, primarily after he sustained a significant knee injury in Week 11 versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old hasn't done much for his fantasy managers anyway, hauling in only 12 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown while being relegated to a lesser role behind rookie Pat Freiermuth, so this isn't a huge loss by any means. As a result of the latest update, Ebron can be dropped in all fantasy formats, especially since there is a good chance his year is over.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to miss extended time as he braces for potential knee surgery, according to a source. Ebron is waiting for a second opinion after getting injured in the Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but surgery seems to be imminent. The 28-year-old just hasn't been fantasy relevant at all this year due to the emergence of rookie Pat Freiermuth as the better red-zone weapon for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Ebron has just 12 receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown on 18 targets over eight games this year, and he can be safely dropped by any fantasy managers that were holding him in deeper leagues. Freiermuth becomes an even more attractive touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1 with Ebron sidelined. With Ebron out for a while, the Steelers added tight end Kevin Rader to the active roster and signed Jace Sternberger to their practice squad.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
