Eric Ebron Leads Team in Receptions in AFC Divisional Round
6 years agoIndianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron caught five of his nine targets for 51 receiving yards in a 13-31 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. Ebron finished the contest tied for the most receptions on the Colts with teammate Chester Rogers, but the statistics don't tell the complete story. Fantasy owners saw Ebron score 10 points in PPR formats, but he was guilty of dropping a critical third down pass on the Colts opening drive, running a route poorly that could have gone for a first down, and committing a false start penalty. That same inconsistency marred his 2018 campaign, though the former Detroit Lion outperformed expectations by hauling in 14 touchdowns passes as a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners in need at the tight end position. The return of Jack Doyle next year threatens to make Ebron one of the most overvalued fantasy tight ends in 2019 drafts, but Indianapolis's offseason moves and preseason matchups will offer hints into whether his usage will be even remotely the same.
