Erasmo Ramirez Could Be Cleared To Throw Saturday
Erasmo Ramirez (shoulder) will meet with a team doctor Friday and could be cleared to play catch Saturday. Manager Scott Servais isn't ruling Ramirez out to open the year as the fifth starter, but with off days, the M's won't need a fifth starter until mid-April. Because of that, the Mariners will likely be extra cautious with Ramirez. He pitched well in his return to Seattle last year, going 1-3 with a 3.92 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 7.8 K/9, but his career 7.0 K/9 doesn't move the needle enough for him to really be considered useful in standard mixed formats.
