Ender Inciarte Could See Decreased Playing Time
5 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte may be the odd man out of the team’s lineup against right-handed pitching moving forward, per manager Brian Snitker. With Nick Markakis back in the mix, Inciarte found himself on the bench Thursday, a decision that Snitker reiterated by saying he would stick with that division of labor “for a while.” A three-time Gold Glover, Inciarte’s primary value stems from his glove, as his bat has been quiet to open 2020, having hit .188 with a .566 OPS through his first 13 games. Snitker’s announcement essentially zaps all value that Inciarte had, as he appears destined to become a late-game pinch-runner and defensive replacement.

Ender Inciarte Activated By Mets
3 years agoThe New York Mets activated outfielder Ender Inciarte from Triple-A on Tuesday. In a pair of corresponding moves, the team optioned Nick Plummer to Triple-A and designated pitcher Locke St. John for assignment. Inciarte signed a minor league deal with the Mets about a week ago. He's played in a total of 38 games at Triple-A this year while on contract with both the Mets and Yankees. Over those 38 games, he's slashed .244/.323/.387 with four home runs, six stolen bases, 11 RBI and 14 runs. He'll solely provide outfield depth for the Mets for now and isn't someone worth monitoring for fantasy purposes.

Yankees Sign Ender Inciarte
3 years agoThe New York Yankees signed outfielder Ender Inciarte to a minor league deal on Wednesday. The three-time Gold Glover can sign with a team during MLB's lockout because he was not on a 40-man roster to end last year. The 31-year-old was an All-Star in 2017 and has hit .280 with 118 stolen bases and a 91 OPS+ in eight seasons in the majors. Inciarte is best known for his defense in center field, though, but he has seen a sharp decline with his glove since his last Gold Glove season in 2018. He played 52 games with the Atlanta Braves in 2021 before he was designated for assignment in July, and he finished out the year at Triple-A for the Cincinnati Reds before being released in August. The Yankees also signed center fielder Blake Perkins, shortstop Wilkerman Garcia and right-hander Vinny Nittoli to minor league deals.
