Emmanuel Rivera Hitting Second Wednesday
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks third baseman Emmanuel Rivera will make his first start of the 2023 season at third base and out of the two-hole for Wednesday afternoon's contest against Royals left-hander Ryan Yarbrough. Rivera was promoted from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday and logged a pinch-hit RBI single in his first plate appearance of the 2023 campaign with the D-backs in Tuesday night's contest. The 26-year-old has raked Triple-A pitching so far this season as he's hitting .348 with two homers, six doubles, two triples, and a .969 OPS across just 16 games. He actually split last season between the Royals and D-backs and hit .233 with 12 HR and a .701 OPS across 102 games. His starting at third allows veteran Evan Longoria to switch to designated hitter on Wednesday.
