Emmanuel Clase Locks Down Third Save
4 years agoCleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase recorded his third save of the season as he allowed one hit and one unearned run while striking out one in the ninth of Thursday's 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. Clase allowed two runners in this one, but neither were really his fault as Luis Robert got aboard after Josh Naylor took a poor route on a fly ball to right and then Andres Gimenez booted a ground ball that should have been an easy out, which allowed Robert to score. Clase has now been given three of the Indians' last four save opportunities with James Karinchak receiving the other. It is possible Karinchak received the opportunity Tuesday night simply because Clase had pitched the two previous nights, but the situation in Cleveland is still worth monitoring moving forward.
