Emmanuel Clase Bounces Back With A Save Against Cubs
4 years agoCleveland Indians closer Emmanuel Clase bounced back from a rough outing Friday to record the save against the Chicago Cubs in the Tribe's 3-2 win on Tuesday. The flamethrower struck out Eric Sogard to start the ninth, before allowing a Joc Pederson single. Nick Martini then singled in Kris Bryant's slot in the lineup to give Clase managers a scare, before Matty Duffy grounded into a double play to end the game. Now the owner of seven saves on the season, Clase also possesses an absurdly low 1.17 ERA to go along with his somehow high but still perfectly acceptable 1.30 WHIP. The clear favorite to earn saves for the rest of the season, as manager Terry Francona prefers to use James Karinchak as the high leverage stopper, Clase has immense fantasy value. The Indians keep finding ways to win games, so Clase will keep finding save opportunities.
