Emmanuel Clase Blows Four-Run Lead Sunday
1 year agoCleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase got blown up by the Chicago Cubs, allowing four runs in the ninth. Technically, since he didn't come in with a save on the line, he won't take a blown save in this one. Still, this was a disastrous outing and is the second in a row where he's allowed more than one run and blown a lead. His ERA skyrockets to 3.40 and his WHIP is now at 1.21, pretty pedestrian numbers for a guy drafted as the number one relief pitcher. He does have 24 saves and will continue to be the go-to guy for Cleveland, so it's not as if the sky is falling yet for Clase owners. Still, more is expected for a closer of his caliber.
