Emiliano Grillo Showing Life Heading Into Sawgrass
2 years agoEmiliano Grillo's game had seemed to have cooled off a bit after a torrid run to start the swing season, but a 39th-place finish at Bay Hill showed us a lot more life than we've seen in the last few months. Grillo led the field from tee-to-green and gained a whopping 10.5 shots ball-striking over four days in Orlando (his best ball-striking week in almost two years). Even more exciting is the fact that we now head to a venue that should fit Grillo's precision-based game to a tee. He most notably came in 11th at Sawgrass back in 2017, but has also excelled on some notable comparable courses even more recently than that -- second place at 2021 RBC Heritage, third and second in the 2020 and 2022 3M Opens and eighth at the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial. It's a far cry to believe Grillo can actually win in a field like this, but at $6,800 on DraftKings, he does present some compelling recent form at the bottom of the board.
