Elvis Andrus Off To A Slow Start In Cactus League Play
4 years agoOakland Athletics shortstop Elvis Andrus has gotten off to a slow start in his first Spring Training with his new team. Andrus is batting just .207 and has reached base only seven times through 30 plate appearances this Spring. Andrus is coming off a lost 2020 season as lingering back issues limited him to 32 games where he posted a career-low .582 OPS. He had fantasy value in 2019 when he stole 31 bases, but at 32-year-old, it seems like Andrus's best days are behind him. If Andrus doesn't hit then Oakland could turn to their third-ranked prospect Nick Allen who is reportedly knocking on the door of the Majors thanks to elite defense at shortstop. Andrus is a risky fantasy option outside of AL-Only formats.
