Eloy Jimenez Retreats To The Bench
1 year agoChicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez isn't in the team's starting lineup on Thursday as they take on the Texas Rangers. With Jimenez starting on the bench, Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter and will bat seventh against Rangers right-hander Max Scherzer. It's a normal day of rest for Jimenez in the matinee affair. The 26-year-old Dominican has been solid in 2023 when he's been healthy, but he has still yet to steal a base in the big leagues in his fifth season with the White Sox. In 73 games (304 plate appearances) this year, Jimenez is batting .282/.326/.468 with 13 home runs, 14 doubles, 47 RBI and 33 runs scored. He has yet to repeat his rookie campaign when he clubbed 31 homers and drove in 79 in 122 games in 2019.
