Elieser Hernandez Placed On Injured List
3 years agoThe Miami Marlins placed right-hander Elieser Hernandez on the injured list on Thursday, and no reason has been listed, so it's assumed he's going on the COVID-19 injured list. In a corresponding move, right-hander Tommy Nance has been recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville. Hernandez has made 14 appearances (nine starts) for the Fish in 2022 and hasn't fared all that well, going 2-5 with a 6.11 ERA and 1.39 WHIP while striking out 52 and walking 18 in 53 innings pitched. He shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues. Nance, 31, has a 6.14 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, 30 strikeouts and 12 walks in 22 relief innings for the Marlins this year in just his second season in the majors.

Elieser Hernandez Restarting Rehab Assignment On Sunday
2 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez (shoulder) is restarting his rehab assignment for Class-A Brooklyn after having a setback in his previous attempt with Single-A St. Lucie. Hernandez has been out all year while dealing with a right shoulder strain and was shut down from his last rehab assignment back on June 14. He has no timetable for his return at the moment but it's encouraging that he's starting another assignment at the moment. Hernandez struggled with a 6.35 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings with the Marlins last season but the Mets are in desperate need of starting pitcher help.

Elieser Hernandez Avoids Arbitration
2 years agoThe New York Mets and pitcher Elieser Hernandez agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million deal to avoid salary arbitration. Hernandez will begin a new chapter with the Mets in 2023 after spending five seasons in Miami. The 27-year-old split his 2022 season as a starter and middle-inning reliever. He posted a 6.35 ERA across 62 1/3 innings and 60 punchouts. Hernandez was not the most effective pitcher in 2022, although we have seen success in previous years. With a change of scenery in Citi Field, Hernandez may have an opportunity to turn the tables. However, he is mainly on the fantasy radar in deep-league league formats.

Elieser Hernandez And Jeff Brigham Shipped To Mets
2 years agoThe New York Mets have struck a deal with the Miami Marlins for two right-handed pitchers, Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham, just days after each was designated for assignment. The Marlins receive minor league pitcher Franklin Sanchez in return.
Hernandez is the more prominent name of the two, as he made 90 appearances including 48 starts over five seasons in Miami, recording a 5.04 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 277 strikeouts in 287 1/3 innings. Both will serve as depth for the Mets, who have seen most of their pitching staff enter free agency.
