Elieser Hernandez Leaves Start With Injury
4 years agoMiami Marlins starter Elieser Hernandez left his start on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Rays due to an apparent hand or finger injury. He lasted just 2.1 innings before departing. He allowed two runs on two hits, including a home run, and struck out three batters. The final at-bat against Hernandez came at the start of the third inning when he threw seven pitches to strike out opposing pitcher Rich Hill. All seven pitches were 87 mph or less. Hernandez's average fastball velocity in 2020 was 91 mph which is closer to what he was throwing in the first inning. The 25-year-old is looking to build off his strong six starts from 2020 when he produced a 3.16 ERA and K-BB of 34-5 across 25.2 innings of work.
