Elias Pettersson Not Ready To Sign Contract Extension
10 months agoVancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson is not yet ready to put pen to paper on a contract extension and prefers to wait until after the season to get a new deal done. "Wait until the end of the year," the Swede told the media on Friday. The comments came while being interviewed about the three-year extension president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford agreed to earlier in the day. Pettersson is in the final season of a three-year, $22.05 million contract he signed in October of 2021 and is enjoying a big year for the surging Canucks. The 25-year-old has tallied 24 goals and 59 points across 45 games this season, tying countryman William Nylander for seventh in the NHL. He is one of three Canucks in the top 13 in league scoring, joining J.T. Miller (T-4th) and defenseman Quinn Hughes (13th).
