Elias Lindholm Traded By Flames To Canucks
1 year agoThe Calgary Flames have traded center Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks, marking the first big domino to fall ahead of the March 8 NHL trade deadline. While the Canucks get one of the best available players more than a month before the deadline, the Flames netted a nice return that includes forward Andrei Kuzmenko, defensive prospects Hunter Brzustewicz and Joni Jarmo, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick that turns into a third-rounder if the Canucks make the Western Conference Final this season. Lindholm, a quality two-way center, has regressed offensively this season with nine goals and 32 points in 49 games but his 6.9% shooting rate is well below his 12.1% career mark. Positive goal-scoring regression should be on the horizon, especially considering Lindholm will see top-six and top power-play minutes with a Canucks offense that ranks second in the NHL with 3.80 goals per game on the season.
