Elias Lindholm Traded By Flames To Canucks
10 months agoThe Calgary Flames have traded center Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks, marking the first big domino to fall ahead of the March 8 NHL trade deadline. While the Canucks get one of the best available players more than a month before the deadline, the Flames netted a nice return that includes forward Andrei Kuzmenko, defensive prospects Hunter Brzustewicz and Joni Jarmo, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick that turns into a third-rounder if the Canucks make the Western Conference Final this season. Lindholm, a quality two-way center, has regressed offensively this season with nine goals and 32 points in 49 games but his 6.9% shooting rate is well below his 12.1% career mark. Positive goal-scoring regression should be on the horizon, especially considering Lindholm will see top-six and top power-play minutes with a Canucks offense that ranks second in the NHL with 3.80 goals per game on the season.
