Eli Manning Still The Starter Heading To Week 14
6 years agoNew York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said "Eli's our starter" heading into Week 14 against the Redskins. There is a "good chance" that rookie Kyle Lauletta will once again serve as the backup to Eli Manning this week. Manning is clearly running on fumes at age 37 and looked bad again in Week 13 in the overtime win against the Bears, going 19-for-35 for 170 yards (54.3 completion percentage) with a touchdown and interception. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had as many TD passes as Manning in the game. The Giants may want to get a look at Lauletta under center before the end of this lost season. Manning is a low-end QB2, at best, for as long as he keeps starting games.
