Edwin Uceta 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Could See Additional Save Chances As Rays No. 2 Bullpen Option
3 days agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Edwin Uceta was impressive in 2024, posting a 1.51 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and a 57:8 K: BB across 41 2/3 innings. Uceta posted a career-high 35.8 K% and a career-low 5.0 BB%. The Rays used a variety of closers when Pete Fairbanks (lat) suffered a season-ending injury in August, as Uceta locked down five of Tampa Bay's 13 saves down the stretch. Fairbanks has missed time over the last couple of seasons due to injuries and is a potential trade candidate, as he's making around $3 million in 2025 with a $7 million buyout in 2026. Uceta will be used in high-leverage situations and could see save opportunities if Fairbanks misses time or is traded. ATC projects the Rays right-hander with nine saves, 14 holds, a 3.55 ERA, and 1.18 WHIP across 67 innings. Uceta is a great handcuff to Fairbanks at his current NFBC ADP of 385 but is a more substantial fantasy option in leagues that reward for both saves and holds.
