Edwin Diaz Works Two Clean Innings In Mets Win
3 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz worked two clean innings in the Mets twelve inning, 6-2 win over the Giants on Wednesday. Called upon to keep the game tied in the ninth and tenth innings, Diaz was up to the task. He struck out one batter and allowed the Mets to hold serve until they were able to finally break open the game in the 12th inning. Despite his occasional meltdowns, Diaz remains one of the top closing options in baseball given his strikeout potential and firm grip on the Mets closer role. On the season, Diaz owns a 3.70 ERA, 2.45 FIP, 1.13 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings pitched. He has converted 25 of 29 save opportunities. He should remain active in all formats.
