Edwin Diaz Serves Up Home Run But Records Save
5 years agoThe night after blowing his fifth save of the season, New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz returned to the mound in Chicago against the White Sox. With a three-run lead in place, he quickly retired the first two batters before surrendering his ninth home run of the season. The Mets weren't pulling any punches, quickly getting an arm up in the bullpen, but Diaz remained composed and struck out the ensuing batter for the save. While he gave up a home run, he struck out the side in quite the bounce-back performance. The Mets have now won six games in a row and are just three games below .500 at 52-55.
