Edwin Diaz Records Save On Opening Day
6 years agoThe New York Mets enjoyed superb pitching on Thursday afternoon, shutting out the Washington Nationals for an Opening Day victory. The very last pitcher to take the hill was closer Edwin Diaz, making his season debut with the club after being acquired from the Seattle Mariners in the offseason. Diaz threw just 14 pitches and retired the side in order, but experienced a couple of scares with booming fly-outs to right field before striking out the final batter. It was a fantastic way to begin his tenure with the Mets, surely his first save of many with his new club.
