Edwin Diaz Records Fifth Save on Thursday
6 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz locked down his fifth save of the season on Thursday in a win over the Atlanta Braves. Diaz allowed two hits, but struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth to seal the victory. So far this season, the flamethrower has done exactly what the Mets expected him to do after an All-Star season in Seattle. Diaz is 5-for-5 in save opportunities and carries a 1.59 ERA in seven appearances. He will continue to be valuable for both saves and strikeouts.
