Edwin Diaz Picks Up Save Number 27 On Monday
3 years agoOn Monday, New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz worked a clean seventh inning securing the Mets 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Diaz struck out two batters en route to his 27th save of the season in 31 save opportunities. While save opportunities have recently been few and far between for Diaz, given the Mets August struggles, he is currently pitching lights out. Diaz has been scored upon only one time over his last 14 appearances. He now boasts a 3.42 ERA, a 2.29 FIP, a 1.06 WHIP, 27 saves, and a 75:19 K:BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings pitched in 2021. Diaz remains one of the top MLB relief pitchers thanks to his elite 35% strikeout rate and firm grip on the closer role in Flushing, Queens. He should be active in all fantasy formats.
